“This was my first trip to play for a team outside of Rio de Janeiro, spending months away from home, but I was blessed by God, who is my biggest inspiration, with another championship title. I know that I was a fundamental player for Independência and I thank the club’s board and technical team for their attention. I want new challenges to show the world that the poor boy from Baixada Fluminense won through his talent and provided better living conditions for his family. I will be eternally grateful to Belford Roxo who opened the doors for me and to everyone who has encouraged me”, said defender Nathan da Silva.

Defender Nathan, whose idol is former Flamengo defender Juan, started playing football at the age of 11, at former player Luis Carlos da Silva’s school (Pará), in the Guaraciaba neighborhood. Later, he improved with coaches Antônio Carlos and Danilo, who made him aware of his potential as an athlete.
In 2021, he auditioned and joined the under-23 team at Sociedade Esportiva Belford Roxo. In 2022, he was promoted to the professional team, becoming State Champion of Series C. The following year, he transferred to São Cristóvão, winning the Waldir Amaral Cup, moving up to Series B2, and in the same year to Series B1.
