Solemn opening of the XVI Congress of City Halls and Municipal Health Departments of RN with the participation of various political actors and the SUS

The XVI Congress of City Halls and Municipal Health Departments of RN began this Wednesday (1st). The event, which has the theme: “35 years of Cosems-RN: Reframing the SUS in Recantos Potiguares”, is scheduled until this Friday (3) and is being held in Natal, at the Praiamar Natal Hotel & Convention.

The XVI Congress of City Halls and Municipal Health Departments of RN is the largest and most important event in the area of public health, held in Rio Grande do Norte in 2024 and has the participation of 920 registrants. At the event, several actors – local and national – from the Unified Health System (SUS) are present, who will carry out, over three days, reflections, exchanges of experiences and referrals that seek dialogue, resolution and communication between the 167 municipalities in the north -rio-grandenses.

“Our event, in its sixteenth edition, is committed to intensifying the qualification of the exercise of management functions in health with the aim of providing municipal managers and other participants with the opportunity for discussion, training and strengthening of public policies that enable organizational structures solutions”, highlighted Maria Eliza Garcia, municipal health secretary of Doutor Severiano and president of Cosems-RN.

SCHEDULE

The main highlights of the first day of activities were: holding the state stages of the II National Workshop of ImunizaSUS (CHECK SELECTED WORKS HERE) and the 19th Exhibition “Brazil, here’s SUS” (CHECK SELECTED WORKS HERE); as well as holding the “Monitoring, Microplanning and Immunization Workshop”; “Digital Health Workshop”; “Seminar: Specialized Care Management”; “Seminar: Small Municipalities”; “Seminar: SUS/DigiSUS Gestor planning instruments”; “Seminar: Challenges and perspectives of professional provision programs in RN”; and “11th ImunizaSUS Thematic Workshop”.

In addition to congressmen and members of Cosems, the opening ceremony was attended by the mayor of Natal, Álvaro Dias, the national secretary of Primary Health Care (Ministry of Health), Felipe Proença, the coordinator of the Organization’s Comprehensive Immunization Program Pan American Health Organization (OPAS), Lely Stella Gusmán, the president of the National Council of Municipal Health Secretariats (Conasems), Hisham Hamida, federal deputy Benes Leocádio, the president of the Federation of Municipalities of RN (FEMURN) and mayor of Lagoa Nova, Luciano Santos, the Secretary of State for Public Health, Lyane Ramalho, the superintendent of the Ministry of Health in RN, Jalmir Simões, the prosecutor Rosane Moreno, the president of the State Health Council (CES), Francisco Canindé dos Santos and the director of the Laboratory of Technological Innovation in Health at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (LAIS/UFRN), Ricardo Valentim.

The ceremony, which was also attended by the former presidents of Cosems-RN, Solane Costa, Ana Tânia Lopes Sampaio and Neuman Azevedo; as well as several presidents of Brazilian Cosems, there were tributes directed to the former State health secretary and university professor, Cipriano Maia, the president of the CES, Francisco Canindé dos Santos and Terezinha Rego, a retired employee of the National Health Foundation (Funasa ) and who has been active in the Unified Health System for decades.

This Thursday (2), the Congress debates will take place around the “Regional Planning and Action Workshop of the Cosems of the Northeast Region”, in addition to panels with discussions focused on “Municipal action: advances and challenges of health surveillance in current situation” and for the “Specialized Health Care Policy: timely access”.
