People from Mato Grosso do Sul can prepare to continue living with high temperatures and dry weather. According to meteorology, the State should not receive even a drop of water until the end of the month. The only forecast is light rain in the southern region from the 21st. Here in Campo Grande the situation gets worse. The last time the Capital saw rain was on April 16th. Today completing 20 days without a drop of water from the sky, there is not even a forecast of drizzle.
Denise Moraes, meteorologist at Inmet (National Institute of Meteorology), explains that there is an atmospheric blockage preventing it from raining in Mato Grosso do Sul. The scenario is the opposite of what happens in Rio Grande do Sul. “Around here, this blockage raises the temperature. weather and reduces air quality. This is happening in the central and southeastern part of Brazil. In Rio Grande do Sul, for example, there is no such thing.”
This Sunday (5), the National Institute of Meteorology issued a yellow alert for low air humidity in Campo Grande and 31 other municipalities in Mato Grosso do Sul. According to Inmet, relative air humidity should vary between 20% and 30% and there is a risk of forest fires and health.
The WHO (World Health Organization) highlights that the ideal level of relative humidity is between 60 and 80%. When the index points to levels below 20%, the situation is considered an emergency.
The advice is that people drink plenty of fluids, avoid physical exhaustion during the driest hours and avoid exposure to the sun during the hottest hours of the day.
