A 43-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of trying to kill her own mother, a 72-year-old woman, on Sunday night (5), in the Aparecida neighborhood, South Zone of Manaus. The victim was stabbed in the left hand and arm.

According to the Military Police, at around 11:30 pm, the police received a report of an attempted murder in a house located on Rua Luiz Antony.

Upon arriving at the scene, the police discovered that it was a case involving a fight between a mother and daughter. The suspect stabbed her mother after being questioned about using drugs.

“The mother informed us that her daughter is a drug user and the two always argued about it, but always verbal fights. This time, the suspect allegedly came at her with a knife, hitting the victim’s hand and left arm,” said Lieutenant Litaiff, of the Military Police.

Still according to the lieutenant, the neighbors helped the elderly woman and took her to the São Raimundo Emergency Care Service (SPA), before the vehicle arrived.

Her daughter was arrested in the house and did not resist. She was taken to the Specialized Police Station for Crimes Against Women (DECCM) where, according to delegate Patrícia Leão, a protective measure was requested for the victim and other judicial police procedures.

“The victim was taken to undergo a forensic examination and the suspect must be sent to a custody hearing”, he informed.
