We need to be aware of the size of the tragedy, unprecedented in this dimension. We have already seen brutal floods, drought in the north of the country, and all of this is part of extreme events, but, in this dimension like in Rio Grande do Sul, it has never been seen. Rio Grande do Sul is destroyed. He needs a reconstruction plan and the federal government will have to actively participate in this. Reinaldo Azevedo, columnist at UOL

What I greatly regret, from a political point of view, is that there is an absolutely vile, indecorous, indecent exploitation of the extreme right in this case. We saw how these people have nothing to say to Brazil. [Vimos] The hatred with which the extreme right treated the issue of Rio Grande do Sul, trying to target President Lula and the government, which were operating while they were doing absolutely nothing other than planting fake news. Who are these people who don’t know how to hold hands with those who suffer and laugh with those who smile? Hatred serves no purpose, only to build even more hatred, and, therefore, to destroy. What Rio Grande do Sul needs at this moment is unity and recognition that the state government and the federal government are working together. Reinaldo Azevedo, columnist at UOL

O Look here! airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at 1pm.
