Firefighters from RN will work in search and rescue in Rio Grande do Sul

The government of RN will send firefighters to help with searches and rescues in Rio Grande do Sul. According to an announcement made by governor Fátima Bezerra (PT), the government will provide 6 military firefighters specialized in operations with boats, 2 pickups and 2 boats complete.

Rio Grande do Sul is facing the effects of storms that hit the state at the end of April. In total, 332 of the state’s 496 municipalities recorded some type of problem, affecting 707.1 thousand people. In a bulletin released at 6pm this Sunday (5), the Civil Defense of Rio Grande do Sul confirms 78 deaths due to the storms hitting the state.

“We are sending trained and qualified firefighters to carry out this mission. Alongside them will be equipment, boats and vehicles that will support the rescue of victims. Our entire Corps is ready if even more soldiers are needed”, says Colonel Monteiro, general commander of the CBMRN.

Last Saturday, Governor Fátima Bezerra (PT), president of the Northeast Consortium, had already informed that all states in the region would send aid to Rio Grande do Sul.

“It is a moment of unity and all possible help so that the people of Rio Grande do Sul can overcome this sad moment”, stated the governor.
