In a statement, the party confirmed the decision that the party will not continue with its pre-candidacy for the next municipal elections. “A central figure in Operation Lava Jato, Deltan reinforced his commitment to the city, but stated that at this moment he believes it is more important to dedicate himself to the election of many honest and competent candidates, thinking about improving Brazilian political frameworks in 2024 and 2026” , justifies the New.

“After much prayer and reflection, I feel that my mission at this moment goes beyond Curitiba and that I can contribute more broadly to political renewal, helping to train and elect good candidates throughout Brazil. Serving has never been or will be about holding a position. We are not looking for a position, but a transformation. The position is only a possible means or instrument. Serving is about making the biggest and best difference where it is needed most. It’s about making your best contribution and I understand that mine is now”, says the former federal deputy, candidate elected to the parliamentarian with the highest number of votes in the state of Paraná.

The former parliamentarian lost his mandate in Congress after having his candidacy registration as a federal deputy revoked by the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) in May 2023, following an appeal in the process authored by the PT-PV-PCdoB Federation.

The understanding is that he can register his candidacy for mayor, but must face a new legal battle based on the request for dismissal from the Federal Public Ministry (MPF) to, supposedly, escape a disciplinary process that was not even opened to investigate the actions of the former prosecutor at Lava Jato.

In a video published on social media, Dallagnol expresses frustration with the dismantling of Lava Jato and the new “era of abuses and judicial discretion”. In his assessment, the PT federal government poses an “even greater challenge” and that to overcome the difficulties it is necessary to cultivate a “generation of politicians with a passion for Brazil, who fight for justice and are dedicated to seeking the best public policies for social problems .”

“I am immensely grateful for the support I received as a pre-candidate in Curitiba. Seeing so many hearts and minds aligned with mine in loving and serving strengthened my determination and hope. I want you to know that I am not walking away from the fight. I am choosing to fight on a broader and more challenging front and, for that, I continue to count on the support of all of you”, declares the former Lava Jato prosecutor in a public note from the party.

Novo also reports that the impeached former federal deputy continues his party activities. “Deltan contributed to Novo being the party that grew the most in the last year, going from 30 thousand to 60 thousand members”, he adds.

Furthermore, Novo highlights the creation of the pilot project called “Task Force”, a training and mentoring group for candidates who stood out for their commitment to the flags that Deltan defends, including the fight against corruption and conservative agendas.
