The State Department of Traffic of Goiás (Detran-GO) will offer a free traffic instructor and examiner course. The initiative aims to expand the number of professionals trained to administer practical driving exams to obtain a National Driving License, change or add a category.
Free course
The announcement of the opening of registrations was made by the president of Detran-GO, Delegate Waldir, this Tuesday. The course will be taught by the municipality’s Public Traffic School. Initially 70 vacancies are planned. The notice with guidance for interested parties will be released next week.
Interested parties must present a higher education certificate recognized by the Ministry of Education. Those selected will only have to pay the registration fee for the examiner course, in the amount of R$37.14. The workload will be 208 hours. The first class is scheduled to start classes in June.
Currently, there is a lack of qualified professionals for the segment. Detran-GO administers around 30 thousand practical exams per month. Around 120 examination boards are held monthly in just over 90 municipalities.
The objective, according to the president, is to universalize the activity, taking examination boards to all municipalities and, consequently, reducing the cost of the driver’s license for candidates.
Who can apply
To participate in the examiner course offered by Detran-GO, the candidate, among other things, must:
- be at least 21 years old;
- have a driving license issued by Detran-GO, with at least 2 years of experience as a driver;
- have a higher education certificate recognized by the Ministry of Education;
- not have committed any infraction of a very serious nature in the last 12 months;
- is not serving the penalty of suspension of the right to drive and, when served, 12 months have elapsed;
- is not serving the penalty of revocation of the right to drive and, when served, 24 months of rehabilitation will have elapsed.
Accreditations
“Today, we are unable to increase the number of stalls. We are barely able to meet the demand”, says Delegate Waldir when recalling other actions that the municipality has been developing to increase the number of stalls.
In the coming days, the notice that allows the accreditation of companies to teach the examiner course should be released.

Last Monday (29/04), the municipality opened registrations for the accreditation of traffic examiners. They will remain open indefinitely. Interested parties must send complete documentation to the email: [email protected]. Remuneration will be based on productivity, with a ceiling set at R$6,380.
Candidates must:
- take the traffic examiner course;
- be qualified for at least two years, in the category higher than or equal to the one you intend to evaluate;
- present documentation in accordance with the notice
- and go through a refresher course to be taught by Detran-GO.
After the process, those who are qualified will have to undergo practical training.
The accreditation of examiners is intended for individuals who have taken the traffic examiner course under the terms regulated by the National Traffic Council and endorsed by Detran-GO.
The candidate must:
- be at least 21 years old;
- complete higher education in any area of training;
- and be qualified for two years or more in the category to be examined.
It is desirable that the candidate is a Libras interpreter.
