In a meeting held this Tuesday morning (30), at the headquarters of the Sports Secretariat (Sesporte), it was decided, in common agreement with the Ceará Football Federation (FCF) and representatives of the clubs Fortaleza and Ceará, the transfer of two Arena Castelão games on the calendar this May.

The initiative aims to ensure the recovery of the lawn, which will undergo a new maintenance schedule, with increased fertilization and the revitalization of large areas, in addition to mowing and routine procedures.

Thus, the match between Ceará and CRB-AL, in Series B of the Brazilian Championship, on May 6th, will be transferred to the Presidente Vargas Stadium. The second transferred game will be between Fortaleza and Athletico-PR, in Series A of the Brazilian Championship, scheduled for the 18th.

With the decision, work on the lawn will have an initial break of 11 days, between days 2 and 12, for recovery.

According to Rogério Pinheiro, Secretary of Sport, the transfer of matches “guarantees more space between one game and another so that we can strengthen the maintenance of our pitch”.

“We are grateful for your understanding in extending the space for this recovery work. It is important to highlight that, when a game ends, we immediately begin the recovery work”, highlights the Superintendent of Public Works, Quintino Vieira.

The Sports Secretariat (Sesporte) and the Public Works Superintendency (SOP), responsible for interventions in the Arena, represented the Government of Ceará. Also present were the CEO of Fortaleza, Marcelo Paz; the Ceará Events director, Veridiano Pinheiro; and the Marketing Director of the Ceará Federation, Biriba do Vale, among other representatives of the clubs and the FCF.
