“Pernambuco needs to return to being a safe state”, says governor in handover of Civil Police medals

The Civil Police of Pernambuco awarded “Civil Police Merit” medals to 165 police officers and members of civil society who helped strengthen the corporation over 207 years.

At the ceremony, held this Tuesday (30), in Recife, governor Raquel Lyra (PSDB) declared that her administration has a very clear strategy: “Pernambuco needs to return to being a safe state”.

The ceremony took place at the headquarters of the Escola Superior de Magistratura (Esmape), on Ilha do Leite, in the central area of ​​the city.

The event marked the end of the institution’s anniversary celebrations, celebrated throughout the month of April.

Also participating were vice-governor Priscila Krause, the secretary of Social Defense, Alessandro Carvalho; the PCPE General Delegate, Renato Rocha, and the PCPE Deputy General Delegate, Beatriz Leite, as well as other authorities.

At the ceremony, Governor Raquel Lyra (PSDB) stated that she was honored to participate in the ceremony, representing the State and said that “it is not easy to make change”.

“It is important to honor the people who helped make Pernambuco safer, dedicating their lives and energy”, he declared.

According to the manager, it is important to honor “those who make a difference in returning social peace to the State”. “No one does anything alone,” she declared.

“We are changing everything, renewing staff and holding competitions. It is the biggest investment in security in our history”, he stated.

In an interview with Diario de Pernambuco, the head of the Civil Police of Pernambuco, Renato Rocha, highlighted the importance of the ceremony.

According to him, the delivery of the medals concludes the anniversary month.

“It’s the big event, the end of the month. We thanked police officers and members of civil society who helped improve the corporation and make it more efficient,” he declared.

Rocha also spoke about the actions being developed by the corporation.

“Our actions aim to achieve the goals. I am confident that, with the actions to prevent crimes against life, we will comply with what was established”, he said.

The police chief also said that the government’s idea is to increasingly invest in the structure and motivate the police force.

The Civil Police Merit Medal was created by decree 24,205, on April 15, 2002. The idea is to recognize the civil servant for his relevant services provided in favor of the security of the State and society of Pernambuco.

In addition, the award includes personalities and public or private institutions. The concession is made by Act of the Executive Branch, with the Civil Police being responsible for issuing the respective diploma.

Other events

The ceremony ended the celebrations celebrating PCPE’s anniversary, which began on the 11th with a tribute to agent Luiz Henrique Malta dos Santos, who was killed in 2023 while carrying out his duties.

From the event onwards, the auditorium located on the fourth floor of the PCPE Operational Headquarters will be named after the civil police officer.

The space is a daily venue for press conferences, as well as various other institutional events.

Between the 20th and 21st, the PCPE: 207 years exhibition took place at Shopping Recife, in Boa Viagem, Recife.

The population had the opportunity to learn a little more about the corporation. On that occasion, it was also possible to issue the Identity Card at the Mobile Police Station that will be set up outside the shopping center.

On May 4th and 5th, this action will happen again with the issuance of a National Identity Card (CIN), at the Mobile Police Station, set up in the Shopping Recife parking lot.

80 places will be available per day and interested parties must make a prior appointment via the website www.pecidadao.pe.gov.br, filling in the details and indicating that it is for the 1st copy of the National Identity Card.

If the person has already issued a new National Identity Card and is going to obtain a second copy, they need to pay the fee of R$29.91, printing the DAE on the same website.

What to take

On the scheduled day, you must bring your Birth/Marriage Certificate, CPF and, if the DAE has been paid (invoice generated), take proof of it.

If the citizen wishes to include additional information, such as blood type and voter ID, they must bring the original documents. In addition to issuing the National Identity Card, Civil Police personnel will also be recording police reports in the Mobile Unit.
