The city of Rio had the driest April in more than 25 years this year. The information was released this Tuesday (30) by the city hall, which began monitoring this in 1997 through the Alerta Rio System.

For the city, the Climatempo forecast indicates a maximum of 36ºC on the day of the pop diva’s performance. Read more details here.

The city hall survey reveals that the average maximum temperature for the month of April, from 2014 to 2023, is 31.3°C, while the average high for April this year was two degrees above: 33.5°C. The highest temperature recorded in the municipality was 39.1°C, on the 28th.

The Rio Alert System also highlights the low relative humidity of the air. During the month, three days had humidity levels below 30%: April 23, 24 and 28.

With the level below, Some people are already starting to experience problems such as red eyes and a feeling of sand, allergies, dry throat and nose, among other problems.

During the heat wave, the relative humidity of the air must be low, around 20% – the level during which meteorologists and doctors recommend special care with hydration.

Do you know what precautions you should take during this period? See below:

  • Drink a lot of water (about two liters per day or 10 200 ml glasses of water). It hydrates all organs, including skin and mucous membranes.
  • If you can, have an air humidifier at home. You can also place a basin of water in the room or a damp towel to minimize the effects of dry, polluted air.
  • Hydrate the mucous membranes well with saline solution – at least twice a day.
  • Wash your eyes with saline solution or with artificial tear eye drops.
  • Be careful with alcoholic drinks. They can refresh, but they also dehydrate.
  • Keep the house cleanpreventing the accumulation of dust.
  • Avoid exercising from 11am to 5pm.
  • Protect yourself as much as possible from the sun and avoid drying out mucous membranes and skin.

Below, the report explains the precautions that need to be taken when exercising outdoors during the heat.
