Increase in ICU admissions and overcrowding of health centers led to decree
In the extra edition of the Official Gazette this Monday, 29th, governor Jorginho Mello declared an emergency due to the increase in severe acute respiratory syndromes in Santa Catarina. The decree is valid for 180 days.
According to the decree, the increase in admissions to beds in neonatal, pediatric and adult Intensive Care Units (ICUs), and the overcrowding of care centers, demonstrate a high health risk for the population.
The decree also defines that the State Department of Health can urgently acquire services and items necessary to treat the population and combat the causes of diseases.
