Alerts of great danger indicate the occurrence of meteorological phenomena of exceptional intensity, with a high probability of major damage and accidents, with risks to physical integrity or even human life, explains Inmet.

According to the notice, the affected areas are the southwest, northwest, northeast, southeast, central western and eastern Rio Grande do Sul, the metropolitan region of Porto Alegre and the south of Santa Catarina.

The institute also issued a storm danger warning for the same regions that is valid until Thursday (2). According to the warning, rainfall is expected to occur between 30 mm/h and 60 mm/h or 50 mm/h and 100 mm/day; intense winds, between 60-100 km/h; and hail. Inmet also warns that there is a risk of electricity cuts, damage to crops and falling trees.

Inmet also released the weather forecast for until May 6th. There is an indication of large volumes of rain in Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina due to the action of a frontal system in the south of the country.

“The week begins with a storm due to an area of low atmospheric pressure that should favor the formation of instability in areas of Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina. However, between Wednesday and Thursday, a frontal system over the ocean intensifies the rain in these areas, with significant and more widespread volumes, accompanied by thunderstorms and gusts of wind”, he informed.

Also according to Inmet, the week could see large amounts of rain, which could exceed 70 mm, especially in the North of the country, due to the combination of heat and high humidity, in addition to the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ZCIT), which continue to influence instability. in the region, causing intense rain.

For the Northeast, the approach of the ZCIT will still cause rain in the northern part of the region. On the east coast, accumulations are expected to exceed 40 mm, mainly in areas of Sealba, which covers Sergipe, Alagoas and Bahia. Highlights include the coast of Bahia, where instability still persists in the region due to the transport of moisture from the ocean to the continent. In the interior of the region, the forecast is for hot weather and no rain.

For the North Region, rain showers are forecast throughout the week, with amounts greater than 70 mm in areas of northern Amazonas, Pará and Roraima, as well as in Amapá, which may be accompanied by lightning, gusts of wind and thunderstorms. In other areas, isolated rain showers with minor accumulations cannot be ruled out.

For the Central-West and Southeast regions, Inmet points out that they will have hot and dry weather, except in areas of Mato Grosso and Mato Grosso do Sul, where there should be quick and temporary rain.
