Mobilization will be carried out this Wednesday at Farol da Barra, in Salvador, by CUT, CTB, Força Sindical, UGT, Nova Central and CSB
PT Bahia calls for activism and invites civil society to participate in the act “For a Fairer Brazil”, a mobilization that marks May 1st, National Workers’ Day, and which in Salvador will be held at Farol da Barra. Together with CUT, CTB, Força Sindical, UGT, Nova Central and CSB, the PT will celebrate the date and defend decent employment, less interest and dignified retirement.
The activities begin at 6:30 am, with a race with 1,500 people, and will feature documentation services, labor intermediation, with several State departments involved. At 2 pm, the leaders of popular movements and society will begin their statements on the demands, and then there will be shows by Psirico and Adão Negro.
The president of the CUT and member of the PT Bahia executive, Maria Madalena Firmo (Leninha), highlighted the intense struggle and unity of the unions in organizing the act and defending the class’s agenda. The leader also spoke about the differentiated view of PT’s management towards society as a whole, which supports workers and business people, which generates work, income and wants a productive Brazil.
“The government understands the importance of this business sector, but above all it understands that without a workforce, without dignity, without a satisfied worker, without a worker having the basic rights of survival, without this worker there is no company, there is no government, there would be no boss, there is no organized social movement,” said Leninha. “It is in the unity of an increasingly better Bahia and an increasingly better Brazil”.
PT Bahia, through the party’s Secretariat for Popular Movements, has worked with the trade unions to carry out a large mobilization, in a process of collective construction. “Together with CUT, CTB, Força Sindical, UGT, Nova Central and CSB, we at the state PT are working together to carry out a great act to demand improvements for workers throughout Bahia. The PT’s struggle, which originated in the struggle of the working people, remains firm and increasingly strengthened together with these centers”, said the secretary of Popular Movements, Rafaella Rios.
