In a note, the IFTO said that the right to strike is constitutionally guaranteed and it is up to each employee to join the movement. Institutional activities continue to operate in units where classes were not suspended.

According to IFTO, the activities of courses offered in partnership with UAB (EAD modality) will not be interrupted. As well as Postgraduate courses and Initial and Continuing Training (FIC) courses.

Classes at the Palmas Campus Language Center, which follow their own calendar, will also continue.

According to the Institute, a new calendar will be drawn up later. The decision took into account factors such as:

  • The unpredictability of enrollment growth and the difficulties in managing regular class schedules;
  • Student safety;
  • Minimizing expenses and efforts to accompany a partial offer of services;
  • The unification of the replacement strategy that will be necessary after the strike.

According to IFTO, the assessment of the impacts of the strike movement will be continuous, reinforcing with union entities the need to maintain the institution’s essential services throughout the process.

The indication of these services will be made through information from the management team to the unions.
