HRSC and HRVJ train teams with realistic simulation to avoid workplace accidents

Focused on ensuring patient safety, from arrival to discharge, the Sertão Central Regional Hospital (HRSC), a unit of the Ceará Health Department (Sesa), is training different teams with realistic simulation. The idea is to use cases that have already occurred before as an example, to understand how the professional would react in the future, if the same incident were repeated.

The training began last week and continues this Monday (29) and Tuesday (30), for teams from the Clinics, Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Neonatal, Imaging, Transfusion Agency and Surgical Axis of the unit.

According to the occupational nurse at the Specialized Occupational Safety and Medicine Service (Sesmt), Katylla Queiroz, cases of work accidents have always been under control. Remaining within this average is the focus of the training, which is carried out using an innovative methodology: a simulation where everything seems real, with a team that dramatizes situations already recorded, to discover how professionals would act in that scenario. Each round lasts an average of 30 minutes.

“The feedback has been very positive, the teams demonstrate that this way of working is much better, because through this dynamic they are able to more easily assimilate what needs to be done, what needs to be improved because they are inserted into the problem”, he explains. Katylla.

In addition to working in practice, at the end of each round of training, employees participate in the process improvement circle, giving their opinion based on their experience, with suggestions to improve the accident prevention plan that already exists.

“For people to do what needs to be done, we need to train them. The realistic simulation is a stronger element, as similar as possible to reality, so that the employee can see themselves above that, and, from then on, be able to discuss what can be changed”, explains the nurse at the Study Center Patricia Slaves.

Action will also be carried out with HRVJ teams

The Vale do Jaguaribe Regional Hospital (HRVJ), in Limoeiro do Norte, will also carry out, this Monday (29) and Tuesday (30), Patient Safety training with Realistic Simulation. The main theme is “patient safety goals”. The moment is aimed at employees of the Customer Service Center (NAC), Emergency, Maintenance and Social Service. The objective is to recognize the risks to which the patient is exposed and act preventively, avoiding harm to the patient.
