Elderly man shot by mother and son in MT died in his daughter’s arms: ‘I felt helpless’

“I felt so helpless. I called: ‘father, father, father father, father, daddy’, he told the Fantastic Raquel Soares, daughter of Pilson Pereira da Silva, aged 81, one of the elderly people killed by a mother and son who invaded a residence and fired several firearms in Peixoto de Azevedo, Mato Grosso.

Images captured by security cameras released by the TV Globo program reveal the chronology of the crime committed by cattle rancher Inês Gemilaki, her son, doctor Bruno Gemilaki Dal Poz, and other family members involved. All suspects were arrested by the Civil Police.

The scenario initially promised a festive weekend at the Lavall family’s home, with a barbecue organized in celebration of miner Erneci Lavall’s birthday. However, at around 3:14 pm, a white pickup truck parks in front of the residence, and three people disembark: Inês, Bruno and her brother-in-law, Éder Gonçalves.

Bruno, carrying a 12 gauge shotgun, is closely followed by Éder, who takes up a strategic position at the rear.

Meanwhile, rural producer Erneci Afonso Lavall, known as “Polaco”, and his wife, Raquel Soares, were in the house. While the guests gathered around a table, the rural producer rested on a sofa.

Inês then shoots the window and enters the property through the shrapnel. Inside the room, she crouches and starts a sequence of shots. “It was very quick, very fast, with no chance of defending anyone, and we had nowhere to run, the women entered the house and others lay down”, recalls José Roberto Domingos, who survived the shooting attack.

The initial target of the shots was Rui Luiz Bogo, 69 years old, an acquaintance of Inês. Still smiling, she faces the security camera at the time of the attack.

Ten people were in the residence at that time, while a child slept in one of the bedrooms. Sitting next to her father, Rui’s daughter, Lourdete Bogo, witnessed the scene. “My father never did anything wrong to anyone. What she did was cowardly,” she said.

Father José Roberto, also present in the house, tried to escape the shots and took shelter behind the sofa, but was not spared from the shots. Inês continues shooting, this time aiming at “Polaco”, however, the weapon misfires at least twice.

The action lasts approximately two minutes. Before leaving the place, Inês tries to reach a security camera, without success. She then asks her son, Bruno, to do the same, but he is also unable to damage the equipment.

Prisons

Mother and son handed themselves in to the Civil Police days after the crime. The Civil Police served the arrest warrants against both men on a rural family property, located 180 kilometers from the municipality of Mato Grosso where the invasion of the residence took place.

According to the Civil Police, the place where mother and son were arrested is difficult to access and has more than 85 kilometers of dirt roads. The Mato Grosso Court issued arrest warrants against the two suspects following a request from delegate Anna Paula Marien, responsible for the investigations.

The Civil Police also arrested Márcio Ferreira Gonçalves, Inês’ husband and Bruno’s stepfather, who was already wanted for the crime, and his brother Eder Gonçalves Rodrigues, who confessed to participating in the double homicide. They were in a house in the Center of Alta Floresta.

According to the police, Eder confessed to participating in the crime, saying he was the person who entered the house and fired shots at Inês and Bruno. During the execution of the crime, Márcio stayed in the Ford Ranger truck, outside the residence, waiting to help his accomplices escape.

Motivation

As found by Fantástico, Inês was a tenant of “Polaco” for more than a year and lived in the house where the crimes occurred. According to reports from the owner, when she returned the property, she left a rent debt, in addition to damaging security cameras and other properties.

In subsequent communications, Inês stated that she would repair the damage caused to the residence, which never materialized. “Polaco” then decided to take the case to court, however, without success in holding her responsible for the losses.

Hours before the attack, Inês and her husband filed a police report against the owner of the residence, claiming they had been threatened due to an old rent debt.

Questioned by the report, delegate Anna Marien highlighted that it is not yet possible to determine the exact motivation behind the crime.

“May she pay for what she did. Her, her children, her husband, her husband’s brother”, said “Polaco”. “What will become of him? [Rui] now? The longing, the memories, the advice he gave me. The longing of knowing that I will never see him again, that’s what hurts me the most. My son asks for it all the time”, lamented Raquel, emotionally.

On TV Globo, Angelita Kemper, Inês’ lawyer, claimed that her client “reported that she suffered numerous threats because of this action, to the point that the other party there did not like the judge’s decision to be unfavorable to him. He did not I accepted that it would lose its value.”

The defense of Bruno, Inês’ son, requested psychiatric treatment from the doctor, which was granted during the custody hearing. Márcio Ferreira’s lawyer asked for the preventive detention to be revoked and is awaiting the court’s decision. His brother’s lawyer, Éder, did not take a position.
