Dog dies after being taken to pet shop
A five-year-old shih-tzu dog died in Vitória da Conquista, in the southwest of Bahia and, according to the owner’s complaint, the death occurred because he was forgotten in a pet shop car. The woman filed a police report about the case at a police station in the city, which is investigating the dog’s death.
The TV Sudoeste team, an affiliate of TV Bahia in the region, contacted the petshop. The owner of the establishment informed that he regrets what happened, but that he will only make any statement in court.
According to beautician Rosemeire de Oliveria Martins, the little dog called Snow had already been going to the establishment for five years, that is, since he was born. He went every Friday, but last week, he went on Saturday (20) in the morning.
According to the owner’s report, the dog should have been delivered by an employee of the establishment in the morning. Upon noticing the delay in delivery, Rosemeire tried to contact the petshop at around 12pm, then at 1pm, and in both attempts, by phone and messages, she was not answered.
“They [o petshop] who asked to change the date. The day we took Snow, they were late delivering him, but normally, when they were late, they let us know. I was at the market and my mother called to say that he [o cão] hadn’t arrived yet”, he reported.
With no news from Snow, the beautician decided to go to the establishment. There, she managed to contact the petshop owner by phone. According to Rosemeire, the man said that the puppy was delivered and then said that the dog was dead.
“He said he gave Snow to my sister and I said it was impossible because I don’t have a sister available to go and pick him up. He hung up and a few minutes later he called again saying that something serious had happened. So I said: ‘my son died?’. And he confirmed”, said Rosemeire.
As the animals are delivered in a car, the woman says the animal was forgotten in the vehicle.
After receiving news of the death, the owner says that she still asked the pet shop owner that the animal not be handed over because the mother, who is elderly and very close to the dog, was at home.
“After giving me the news [da morte do cachorro], he said: ‘I’m going to take the dog to your mother’s house’. I asked him not to go, I don’t know if he didn’t listen because of the situation and ended up taking it. My mother is a sick person, he [Snow] he was her youngest son,” he said.
