All ten teams that competed in the final of the 1st Seduckathon, held this Friday (26), will undergo an international exchange. Initially, only six teams would win scholarships in Massachusetts, in the United States, and in Seoul, in South Korea, but governor Rafael Fonteles (PT) announced the expansion of places during the competition awards ceremony.

Previously, there would be four exchange teams in Massachusetts in the United States and two in South Korea. But upon finalizing the announcements of the first six teams, Fonteles awarded the other four teams with the trip, therefore, 50 students and 10 teachers will experience immersion activities in programming courses, free courses, tours and cultural activities in the USA and South Korea.

“This competition materializes many of our dreams and goals, because we have to dream to be inspired, but we have to be able to establish clear and objective strategies and do the most difficult thing, execute. And Seduckathon made much of our future vision for this state real,” said Fonteles.

Rafael concluded by stating that his vision of the future is to make Piauí a global reference in population qualification in the areas that matter most to the world. “This technological direction is inexorable, it will happen whether you like it or not. All professional and economic areas will be affected even more by technology and I want, in five, ten years, the whole world to know that the best professionals are in Piauí”.

Held by the State Department of Education of Piauí (Seduc), the first edition of Seduckathon began on Wednesday (24) and, for three days, students enrolled in the Technical Courses in Systems Development and Game Programming faced the challenge of present projects that bring together practical solutions that improve school routine.

The Secretary of State for Education, Washington Bandeira, highlighted that the projects developed by the students are aimed at solving problems in the school community and congratulated the young people for their dedication.

“Piauí is experiencing a technological and educational shock. Enjoy! Trust us, but also trust yourself, your potential. You have shown that you are very capable and talented. Our role, our mission is to guarantee the best opportunities for these talents to flourish”, said the Secretary.

Present at the event, Professor Drew Weymouth, Principal of Worcester Technical High School, a school located in Massachusetts, in the United States, stated that the event was inspiring and highlighted the students’ commitment. “You are amazing! Thank you to Governor Rafael Fonteles and Secretary Washington Bandeira for their dedication. Students and teachers, you make this work. You addressed real-world issues and brought proposals to resolve them. This partnership with Piauí happened for two reasons, for you, students, who brought enthusiasm and skills, and for the visit of Governor Rafael and his entourage to Worcester High School, who, with his vision of the world, brought me to Piauí”.
