In a course, a highway police officer teaches how to throw pepper spray inside a police car

The video was recorded during a class for students at a course where Bandeira was a teacher. At the time, the institution reported that the video was from 2016.

Genivaldo died of suffocation after police officers threw gas bombs into the trunk of a PRF vehicle where he was detained.

Bandeira, who works as a federal highway police officer in Santa Catarina, was the target of an administrative disciplinary process after the video became public.

In October last year, the PRF internal affairs department forwarded the case to the Ministry of Justice and argued that the agent be fired. Lewandowski, however, decided on a milder sentence of suspension for 90 days.

The ordinance that brings the decision on Flag was published in the “Official Gazette of the Union” on April 22nd. According to the document, the punishment was due to “violation of the duty of loyalty to the Federal Highway Police institution”.

The PRF informed that the decision will now be forwarded to the SC superintendence, so that the suspension sentence can be served.
