Rio Grande do Sul is expected to receive, in the next few days, a batch of 126,132 doses of dengue vaccine, which will be distributed to six municipalities in Rio Grande do Sul. The information was released by the Ministry of Health (MS) this Thursday afternoon (25/4). The date for sending the doses to the State has not yet been defined.
The State Health Surveillance Center (Cevs) is awaiting more information about the shipment of vaccines. Next Monday (29/4), a meeting will be held between the teams of the National Immunization Program of the MS and Cevs.
According to Technical Note 47/2024 sent to the States, the following municipalities will be covered:
- Porto Alegre – 72,898 doses
- Viamão – 14,982 doses
- Alvorada – 12,985 doses
- Gravataí – 16,425 doses
- Cachoeirinha – 8,379 doses
- Glorinha – 463 doses
According to the document, the shipment of vaccines was structured with the objective of ensuring continuity of provision for the municipalities benefiting in the previous stages, in addition to expanding coverage to 625 new municipalities.
The expansion aims to optimize the implementation of the national dengue vaccination strategy. The choice of municipalities was determined based on three main criteria: the ranking of health regions and municipalities, the required quantity of doses according to availability (predicted by the manufacturer) and the calculation of the total doses to be delivered in a single shipment .
The MS also informed that the vaccines intended for the application of the second dose will be sent later, considering the recommended interval of three months to complete the vaccination schedule.
