One of the strategies of the State Tourism Secretariat (Setur-BA) to increase the flow of visitors in Salvador is to attract business and scientific events, which generate an increase in hotel occupancy and also drive other tourist activities during the participants’ stay in the city.

This is how the 5th Bahian Congress and 1st Northeastern Meeting of Family and Succession Law entered Setur-BA’s list of achievements, opened on Wednesday (24), at the Wish Hotel da Bahia, in Campo Grande, in the capital Bahian. There will be three days of activities, with debates and panels on human rights, bringing together around two thousand congressmen from across the country, including lawyers, judges, public defenders and legal students. The event is promoted by the Brazilian Institute of Family Law (Ibdfam), with the support of the state tourism department.

“The events sector is still suffering some impacts from the pandemic and has sought support from public authorities. We work in partnerships with professional entities, associations and unions, to host meetings in Bahia that bring an important audience, as happens in this legal congress, which moves tourist facilities in our capital”, declared the head of Setur-BA, Maurício Bacelar.

“For the first time, we brought together all the presidents and commissions from the Northeast, for discussions about family, culture and diversity. As I’m going to stay here the whole weekend, I intend to return to Lagoa do Abaeté, where I’ve been a few years ago, and do other tours, because it’s impossible to come to Bahia and not enjoy it”, reported the vice-president of Ibdfam Nacional, the Maria Berenice Dias, from Rio Grande do Sul.

Law student Iasmin Figueiredo, from Piauí, who did not know Salvador, is dividing her time between the congress and tourist attractions. “I’ve already been to Farol da Barra and I still intend to visit Mercado Modelo, Elevador Lacerda and Pelourinho”, she pointed out.

“I love Salvador, I’m in love with the city. I want to go to Casa de Jorge Amado, which I didn’t have time to visit the last time I was here. I will definitely return to Paciência beach, in Rio Vermelho, and I will also enjoy a samba in the Historic Center”, added public defender Emile Duarte, from Rio Grande do Norte.
