Body found at Mirante da Sereia is that of a tourist from Bahia

The Alagoas Identification Institute reported, this Thursday (25), that the body found at Mirante da Sereia, in the Riacho Doce neighborhood, in Maceió, is that of Bahian tourist Teobaldo Araújo Lima, aged 83. He had been missing since April 22nd.

According to the Scientific Police, the body was found floating on the beach, late this Wednesday afternoon (24), close to the Fire Department’s lifeguard station.

The team of papilloscopists – responsible for official identification – received an identity card sent to the IML Human Identification Department.

For the necropapiloscopy examination, the experts collected the corpse’s fingerprints and requested the victim’s medical records from the state of São Paulo.

“The biggest difficulty was the condition of the victim’s body and her advanced age, as as the years go by, the quality of the fingerprint decreases. Even so, we managed to collect the elderly man’s papillary impression and compare it with his medical records, confirming his identity”, said one of the papilloscopist.

The cause of Teobaldo Araújo’s death will be confirmed after a cadaver examination. The identification and autopsy reports will be sent to the 6th Police District, which is responsible for investigating the case.
