Influencer is arrested on suspicion of selling ‘clay cell phones’ in Minas Gerais

Victims bought two telephone sets advertised by the suspect, but inside the packaging they found two clay stones

One digital influencer31 years old, was arrested preventively this Thursday, 25th, suspected of extorting a couple in the Barreiro region, in Belo Horizonte (MG).

According to investigations carried out by the team from the 1st Barreiro Civil Police Station, the 36-year-old victim negotiated the purchase of two cell phones advertised by the suspect, through a social network, for a total value of R$13,000. She contacted the seller, started negotiations, and the investigator arranged a meeting point for her to pick up the devices.

On the day of the crime, the suspect handed the two sealed boxes to the victim, who, upon receiving the products, wanted to check them. However, when he tried to open one of the boxes, the person under investigation stated that she should not remove the seal and began threatening her and her 29-year-old partner.

The man stated that he was armed and that the woman should make the payment via Pix immediately. The victim, afraid of the threats, transferred the amount to a third party’s account. Soon after, the suspect fled in a vehicle.

The couple left the place and, when they arrived at a place they considered safe, they decided to check the boxes. To the surprise of the victims, inside the package, they found two clay stones in the shape of cell phones. The victim even tried to contact the person being investigated to get the money back, but never received a response to the messages.

The delegate responsible for the case, Gabriel Teixeira da Silva, explained that, shortly after the victims registered the incident, the Civil Police carried out a series of surveys and reached the suspect. “As soon as we determined the identity of the person being investigated, we immediately took precautionary measures relevant to the case and arrested him today, in the Camargos neighborhood, in Contagem,” he said.

The Civil Police did not release the name of the suspect, so it was not possible to locate his defense. The space remains open for demonstrations.
