The Marketing Director of the Independent League of Samba Schools of Rio de Janeiro (Liesa), Gabriel David, aged 26, was chosen as the institution’s new president and will be sworn in this Friday (26). Gabriel will be the youngest president to take office.

Gabriel will succeed Jorge Perlingeiro, who has been in charge of the institution since 2021. He is the son of the honorary president and patron of Beija-Flor de Nilópolis, the criminal Aniz Abrãhao David.

The league’s new president is a founding partner of the marketing agency Buzzina Digital and serves as a director at G&A, a building developer. He also worked in the entertainment industry, with events in Rio’s music market.

In his participation at Liesa as marketing director, Gabriel led the creation and promotion of the new Rio Carnaval brand and implemented new features in the parade, such as the show, this year, of artists before the Parade of Champions. He was also involved in a controversy in 2021, when he defended drastic changes, such as changing the location of the Sambadrome to Barra da Tijuca.

Liga-RJ also has a new president

Liga-RJ, which organizes the Ouro Series parade, also has a new president: Hugo Júnior, former president of Acadêmicos de Niterói.

He was acclaimed by presidents of the Gold Series associations, who were present at the plenary held on Thursday night (25), at the Institution’s headquarters.
