The president of the Criminal Police Union, Éden Azevedo, said during a hearing at Aleac that the Criminal Police has the worst remuneration among Public Security careers. Representative of 1,500 criminal police officers, he said that criminal factions “took over” Acre.

“In the last six years, criminal factions have taken over not only prisons, but municipalities, all neighborhoods, not only in the Capital, but also in the interior. This happened largely due to the devaluation of the Acre State Penitentiary System. The government has not valued, has not recognized the police officers who work in those units. They are devalued by government management. We have the worst salaries among the categories. Today the Criminal Police are not served by Governor Gladson Cameli”, said the union leader.

Still according to Éden Azevedo, many criminal police officers are sick with psychosomatic illnesses. “Many of them committed suicide, like the case of the Tarauacá criminal police officer, who killed himself in front of his wife, like the case where he died in the guardhouse, because we are sick and not valued, and the government pretends to be helping.”
