According to the most recent epidemiological bulletin, released by Sesau this Wednesday (25), from January to date, reports of 6,804 suspected cases of dengue, of which 3,756 were confirmed.
During the same period, it was confirmed three deaths due to the disease. The victims were from Atalaia, Viçosa and Porto de Pedras. There are also 3 suspicious deaths, which are under investigation in the municipalities of Teotônio Vilela, Boca da Mata and Barra de Santo Antônio.
Vaccination against dengue, known as Qdenga, was incorporated into the National Immunization Program (PNI) in January this year. Since then, doses have been distributed to states gradually, giving priority to large urban centers with a high rate of dengue transmission.
Children and adolescents aged 10 to 14 can receive the dengue vaccine. The vaccine is considered safe and effective for children over four years of age and for adults up to 60 years of age — there are no studies to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of the vaccine outside this age group.
Those who have already had dengue fever and those who have never been infected can receive the vaccine. The vaccine must be administered in a two-dose schedule, 3 months apart.
In addition to the SUS, many private clinics already sell the vaccine, with the price varying between R$300 and R$800.
