The event brought together deputy secretaries, coordinators and teachers from the Pará State Department of Education in the capital of São Paulo at Bett Brasil 2024

In one of the main panels on the first day of the event, the deputy secretary of Basic Education (Saeb), Júlio Meireles, shared the space with the director of Basic Education Assessment at INEP, Rubens Campos, professor Maria Helena, from the Ayrton Senna Institute and the Municipal Secretary of Education of Recife, Frederico Amâncio, where they discussed issues related to the future of basic education. “I spoke about the future of some discussions that we minimally need to have, such as the issue of the articulation of state assessment systems with the national assessment system, that all states have their systems and they need to be articulated for the new Saeb, a discussion about which year we will be evaluating, with a tendency to reflect on whether we will evaluate the seventh year in a necessary way, the second or third year of the cycle and another consideration in the sense of which curricular components we will evaluate, in addition to Portuguese and mathematics, among other points”, he explained.

The secretary also highlighted that the discussion brought under the eyes of the state network was of great contribution. “I see this participation in a relevant way, considering that it is a voice of the network, of the experiences of the state networks, a look from how each network views the Saeb evaluation, not only from the application and dissemination of results, but especially how it can, based on this result, make the necessary pedagogical intervention to improve learning at each stage of basic education teaching. So it is a voice that contributes so that the new Saeb can, in fact, be born from the perspective of the teacher. that the network has been clamoring so much to be able to make the necessary adjustments so that the test becomes increasingly qualified and allows each network to actually make its necessary intervention in the search for improving learning”, he considered.

Also during the day, professor Rafael Herdy, from the Núcleo Tecnológico Educacional (NTE) at Seduc (and who was the big winner of the Transforming Educator Award in the Secondary Education category in 2023) spoke at Bett Brasil about the future of education and advances in high school in Pará.

In addition to Seduc’s participation in the panels and lectures at the event, one of the state public school teachers competed for the Transforming Educator Award, in the High School category, with the project “Robótica com Açaí”. Geography teacher, Renato Alfaia, from Escola Estadual de Tempo Integral Abraão Simão Jatene, in the municipality of Cametá, in the Tocantins Integration Region, was among the five best transformative projects in Brazil. “It was a pleasant surprise to get this far in the award. The merit goes entirely to the students, they are fantastic. It is very exciting to receive this news because this award is not individual, it belongs to everyone who provides public education in Pará, especially our students and we wouldn’t get here without the support of those who have been fighting for this the entire time. Professor Gracilene Caldas, my partner in the project, and I are happy with the achievement, this award is a work of many hands”, he said.

Created in 2023 to participate in TechCamp Pará (a major robotics competition in the state), the Robotics with Açaí project emerged within the actions of Projeto Por Afinidade (PPI) with the aim of combining sustainability and technology. Under the teacher’s guidance, the students created a Bluetooth-controlled cart and an automated trash bin using açaí seeds, mititi and cardboard. The cart, controlled by the cell phone, was able to overcome obstacles and achieve objectives depending on the command given according to the activity carried out at school. The robot even participated in the football and robot championship. The trash bin had sensors that caused the lid to lift whenever someone brought their hand close to place the trash.

“Based on the idea, we hunted for cardboard, went looking for miriti, açaí. The great idea of the project was precisely to enable children to develop technology combined with sustainability. Everyone already knows açaí as a food and knows that “We can produce technology with the Amazonian identity, it’s very interesting”, explained Renato about the project.

Transformative Educator Award – Promoted by the Brazilian Micro and Small Business Support Service (Sebrae), Bett Brasil and Instituto Significare, the Transforming Educator Award is an initiative that aims to recognize and value educational projects that promote significant transformations in Brazilian education, especially with regard to entrepreneurship and innovation. Teachers from public and private institutions across the country are invited to participate, presenting their initiatives that have been implemented with students of different levels and teaching modalities.
