With the aim of promoting inclusion, with a special focus on the passenger journey and its accessibility, Salvador Bahia Airport carries out, in partnership with the State Reference Center for People with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (CRE-TEA), a guided tour with 20 patients from the institution on the 25th, Thursday.

With the action, the airport intends to provide a practical, dynamic and fun experience for the group. Thus, the activity seeks to prepare participants for a possible plane trip, reconstructing the step-by-step process between going through the x-ray and boarding the aircraft.

The activity will have the support and monitoring of professionals who work at CRE-TEA in the areas of psychology, speech therapy and physical education. The initiative takes place in the context of Abril Azul. The date was established by the United Nations (UN) as a way to raise awareness about autism.

On the 11th, Apae Salvador, in partnership with Salvador Bahia Airport, carried out a sustainable route through the aerodrome. Approximately 40 users with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and their families participated in the activity. On the occasion, a boarding simulation was carried out – including an X-ray and a tour of the terminal. The group also visited the Salvador Bahia Airport Sustainability Complex. The structure houses an effluent treatment station, a waste center and a biodiversity center in which fauna and flora conservation actions are carried out.

The objective of these visits, however, goes far beyond providing the full experience of an airport user for neurodivergent people and their families. The initiative seeks to encourage socialization, learning, self-esteem and autonomy among visitors.

Check out the entire schedule for the guided tour on April 25th below:

2:30 pm: Check-in
