Rio City Hall delivers two new Educational Gymnasiums in the South Zone

The acting mayor, Luiz Antonio Guaraná, and the municipal secretary of Education, Renan Ferreirinha, delivered, this Wednesday (24), two new Technological Educational Gymnasiums in the South Zone. The units are located in Rocinha and Vidigal, and combine academic tradition with technological innovation. Both GETs are for elementary school students.

– I’m very happy to be here, I want to see these kids happy, graduating. Education is the main policy of a city because it transforms and moves a community forward. There is no developed country in the world that does not have a good education policy. The fuel that makes education work is curiosity. And the GET teaching model provokes this curiosity in children – said the acting mayor, Luiz Antonio Guaraná.

In Rocinha, GET Luiz Paulo Horta serves 218 students, divided into seven Elementary School I classes. GET Almirante Tamandaré, in Vidigal, also has seven classes, with 314 Elementary School I students, learning in the most innovative education system in the world. country.

– It is our public policy on Technological Educational Gymnasiums that is spread throughout the city. The school of the future, designed here in Rio de Janeiro, brings together different areas of knowledge, which stimulate critical thinking, human sensitivity and creativity. There are already more than 120 GETs and by the end of the year there will be 200, so that we can reaffirm this major intervention in our education – said the municipal secretary of Education, Renan Ferreirinha.

Since its inception, GETs have stood out for their STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) approach, which aims to enhance the development of new skills and abilities by offering students the possibility of carrying out projects in an interdisciplinary way. beyond the textbook. The schools have laboratories equipped with advanced technology and dynamic educational programs, with programming and robotics classes. Everything to prepare young people for the challenges of the modern job market, training a new generation of leaders and creative thinkers.

GET aims to enhance the development of new skills and abilities by offering students the possibility of carrying out projects in an interdisciplinary way beyond the textbook. Schools have maker laboratories. Everything so that the student can develop.

The municipal network already has more than 100 Technological Educational Gymnasiums, serving more than 50 thousand students. The forecast is to reach 200 units of this new school model by the end of 2024. Students of all ages and from all regions of the city are served.
