This Wednesday (24), the 1st Symposium of the Teaching Center for Educational Accessibility and Permanence (NAEP) of the Faculty of Music of Espírito Santo (Fames) begins. The event will discuss and propose accessibility solutions for music education.

Conferences and round tables will be presented with faculty professionals and researchers from other institutions, who will discuss the challenges of making music education a diverse environment, including indigenous students, Afro-Brazilians, women, LGBTQIAP+, people at social risk and refuge, among others.

Naep was created in 2022, aiming to develop actions to adapt the teaching and learning of music to people with specific educational needs. “The center meets the socio-educational demands of students with physical and intellectual disabilities, understood as differences and diversity. But the work also extends to other groups that make the academic environment a diverse space”, says the vice-coordinator of Naep, Edimilson Rodrigues de Souza.

Guests

In addition to several research professors from Fames, the symposium will be attended by the manager of Research, Studies and Evaluations at the Subsecretariat of Drug Policy of the Secretariat of Human Rights (SEDH), Getulio Sergio Souza Pinto; the professor at the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (UFJF), Marcus Vinícius Pereira; the professor at the Federal University of Espírito Santo (Ufes), Mônica Vermes; and professor at the Federal University of Pelotas (UFPEL), Rafael da Silva Noleto.

During the three days of the symposium, the professor at the State Centers for Youth and Children’s Orchestras of Bahia (NEOJIBA), Thiago Barcelos, will teach the workshop “Conducting and preparation with children’s voices”.

Musical Attractions

The event will also have a cultural moment, with musical performances by the groups Pentágono Vix Band, BoneVix and Los Panas, all formed by Fames students and teachers. Students from the college’s Academic Directory also prepared a program of musical soirées over the three days.

The 1st Fames Educational Accessibility and Permanence Teaching Center (NAEP) Symposium is open to the public and takes place from April 24th to 26th, in the college auditorium. Registration can be done via the online application form and the Programming is available on the Fames website.
