The Bolsa Família payment calendar in April 2024 started last Wednesday, April 17th. This month, more than 20.8 million families will receive payments from the Federal Government’s income transfer program. The average value of the benefit per family is R$680.90. The necessary investment totals R$14.1 billion.

Gas Aid — In April, the Federal Government also pays, on the same calendar, the Gas Aid, a benefit aimed at people in situations of greater social vulnerability. There are 5.8 million families who will receive an additional R$102 corresponding to the full value of a 13-kilogram cylinder of LPG gas. The required investment is R$592.6 million.

Variable Benefits — Relaunched by the Federal Government in March 2023, Bolsa Família now provides a series of additional benefits to support, with equality and social justice, different family compositions.

The Early Childhood Benefit, worth R$150 more for each child aged zero to six in the family structure, will be paid to 9.44 million people in April, based on an investment of R$1.33 billion.

The program also began to provide additional transfers of R$50 to pregnant women (645 thousand in April), breastfeeding women (385 thousand), children aged 7 to 16 (12.4 million) and adolescents aged 16 to 18 incomplete years (2.8 million).

UnifiedIn 178 municipalities in nine states, the April Bolsa Família payment will be unified, that is, 100% of payments will be made on the first day of the calendar. These are municipalities afflicted by rain, floods, drought or other climatic events. The list includes three municipalities in Amazonas, 41 in Rio Grande do Norte, 19 in Paraná, 21 in Rio Grande do Sul, 13 in Espírito Santo, 19 in Acre, nine in Roraima, 39 in Bahia and 14 in Rio de Janeiro. The measure will support more than 1 million families with a transfer of R$699 million.

Female Protagonism — As is usual with Bolsa Família, 83.5% of family heads covered by the program in April are women, a common reality for 17.4 million beneficiary families this month.

Indigenous, Quilombolas, Collectors — The April payroll includes 218,911 families with indigenous people, 243,248 with quilombolas and 362.02 with recyclable material collectors.

Protection Rule — In April, 2.68 million beneficiaries were covered by the protection rule, which indicates that they managed to increase their family income. The tool included in Bolsa Família last year allows beneficiaries to remain in the program for up to two years even after obtaining a job with a formal contract or an increase in income up to the limit of half a minimum wage per family member.

Regions — The Northeast Region has the largest number of Bolsa Família beneficiaries in April 2024. There are 9.4 million families served in the 1,794 municipalities of the nine states. To guarantee payments, the transfer to the region is R$6.4 billion. The average transfer amount is R$679.13.
