TSE gets support from PF and AGU for anti-disinformation center

From Wednesday 3rd, two more institutions will be part of the Integrated Center for Combating Disinformation and Defense of Democracy (Ciedde): Federal Police and the Federal Attorney General’s Office.

Ciedde’s partners are already Anatel, the Regional Electoral Courts, the Ministry of Justice, the Attorney General’s Office and big techs.

Initiative by the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) to combat alleged fake news during this year’s elections, the group is commanded by the president of the Court, Alexandre de Moraes.

During an event at the TSE, representatives from both institutions will sign technical cooperation agreements at the courthouse.

At the inauguration of Ciedde, in March, the invited authorities signed the following commitmentswhich should be the same ones celebrated tomorrow by the center’s new employees.

  • a) Implement cooperation at the administrative level;
  • b) Exchange information and streamline entities and social media platforms, aiming to “optimize preventive measures”, in compliance with the provisions of Law No. 13,709/2018;
  • c) Cooperate in defending the integrity of the electoral process and the reliability of the electronic voting system, including by issuing notes, opinions and public statements, according to criteria of convenience and opportunity;
  • d) Promote cooperation between the Electoral Court, public bodies and private entities, especially social media platforms and private messaging services, during the electoral period, to ensure compliance with Resolution no. 23,610, of December 18, 2019, with the changes promoted by Resolution no. 23,732, of February 27, 2024, including assisting the Regional Electoral Courts in improving the regular use of artificial intelligence in the electoral sphere, the fight against “disinformation, the deepfake” and the protection of voters’ freedom of choice;
  • e) Cooperate in carrying out courses, seminars and studies to promote education in citizenship, democracy, Electoral Justice, digital rights and combating electoral disinformation;
  • f) Cooperate in the organization of educational advertising campaigns against misinformation, “hate and anti-democratic speeches, and in defense of democracy and Electoral Justice.
