Industries in Mato Grosso are responsible for employing more than 183 thousand workers. In the state, there are 15.5 thousand industrial establishments. Data from the Annual List of Social Information (Rais) of the Ministry of Labor, compiled by the Industry Observatory of the Mato Grosso Federation of Industries System (Fiemt) show that the sector has an 18% share of the total number of employees registered throughout the state, a total of 1.043 million people working in the job market.

“The sector is experiencing a period of growth, especially for the biofuels and food sectors. However, the need for labor is still an impasse for the state’s economic sectors. Fiemt has been leading discussions to find alternatives to the lack of workforce”, said the president of Sistema Fiemt, Silvio Rangel.

The survey, which considers the base year of 2022, also shows that of the total number of industrial establishments, around 80% are micro-enterprises; 16% are small, 1.76% medium and 1.53% are large companies. The economic activities that most concentrate employees, highlighted by: slaughterhouses – cattle slaughter with 12.52% (22,975), construction of buildings with 10.70% (19,634), alcohol manufacturing with 4.87% (8,934), slaughterhouses – pig slaughter with 4.12% (7,556) and sawmills with raw wood splitting with 3.42% (6,283).

Around 58% (106,078) of these workers have completed secondary education, with a predominance of males at 78% (143,872), compared to 22% (39,653) of female participation. Regarding the age group, the highlight is the group aged 30 to 39 with the highest participation, at 30% (54,298).

The municipalities with the highest share in the number of industrial employees are: Cuiabá with 18% (33,230), Rondonópolis with 8% (15,547), Várzea Grande with 8% (15,297), Sinop with 7% (11,976) and Lucas do Rio Verde with 6% (10,558).

Change in methodology – In the annual monitoring of Rais numbers, it is possible to observe a considerable increase in the number of industries and workers. This scenario is solely due to the change in the methodology applied to calculate donations.

“It turns out that information is collected through GDRAIS and now also via ESocial, with the base year being 2019 – the first year that information was collected from two sources of capture. It is important to highlight that the inclusion of ESocial is mandatory and gradual, with a schedule set out in Joint Ordinance MTP/RFB/ME, no. 2, of April 19, 2022”, explains the manager of the Industry Observatory, Pedro Máximo.
