In the month of February, Sergipe showed an increase in oil and natural gas production, according to data released by the Economic Information Center of the Federation of Industries of the State of Sergipe (FIES), based on information from the National Petroleum Agency, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP).

Average oil production reached 8.9 thousand barrels per day (bpd), representing a growth of 0.6% compared to the previous month, January 2024.

Compared to February 2023, there was a significant increase of 74.7%. In 2024, oil production reached around 17.7 thousand barrels, a growth of 101.4% compared to the same period of the previous year.

Of the total produced in February, onshore extraction contributed 98.2%, equivalent to 8.7 thousand barrels per day (bpd). There was an increase of 0.6% compared to the previous month and an increase of 78.2% compared to February 2023.

Production at sea was 156.5 barrels per day (bpd), representing 1.8% of total production, with a growth of 3.2% compared to January 2024 and a decrease of 16.4% compared to with February 2023.

As for natural gas production, in February 2024, around 1.6 million cubic meters (m³) were produced. There was a 12.9% reduction compared to the previous month, January 2024, but a 39.8% growth compared to February 2023.

In 2024, natural gas production totaled approximately 3.5 million cubic meters (m³), an increase of 44.0% compared to the same period in 2023.

Onshore production was responsible for the majority of natural gas production in the state, corresponding to 95.7% of the total produced in February, while offshore production represented 4.3%.
