Street vendors held a protest in the early afternoon of this Monday (1st) on Avenida Presidente Vargas, in Centro Rio.

At 12:25 pm, Globocopo caught a group with banners and posters in front of Rio City Hall, in the central lane. One of the banners said “peace for the street vendors”.

“I spoke with Governor Cláudio Castro and we made the decision to comply with the municipality’s rules that do not allow street vendors on Uruguaiana Street. In other words, in the coming weeks, the installation of any stall or commercial point in public space will no longer be allowed,” he said. Paes at the time.

The objective is to prevent the sale of stolen or stolen items, especially cell phones. The Rio Public Order Secretariat will be responsible for implementing the measure.

The operation, according to secretary Brenno Carnevale, will be based on three pillars: strategy, prevention and planning.

The measure does not apply to the Camelódromo, which was opened in 1994.
