Producers in Mato Grosso are seeing soybean sales delayed this harvest compared to the previous one. The drop in commodity prices and high production costs are the main factors for the delay.

Imea (Instituto Mato Grosso de Economia Agropecuária) reported in the last bulletin released that the pressure on international prices has directly reflected on the Brazilian and Mato Grosso markets, where the value of available soybeans presented averages of US$ 24.60/sc and US$ 20.86/sc, last week, both showed devaluations of 16.39% and 20.21% in the annual comparison, respectively.

Anderson Oro, director of a cooperative, explains that in the previous harvest the company had 70% of the harvest sold.

“This year the price is much lower, we are talking about around R$105 and with half the harvest sold”, stated the director.

Mato Grosso’s soybean production fell by 18% due to climate change. Producers expected an improvement in marketing, with good prices. Despite this, the better productivity in Rio Grande do Sul and Argentina made Mato Grosso grains less attractive.
