Mato Grosso do Sul recorded, this Wednesday (27), the sixth death from dengue in the first three months of 2024. The victim, a seven-year-old child who lived in Dourados, a municipality located 251 kilometers from Campo Grande, had no comorbidities .

According to the disease’s epidemiological bulletin, death occurred on January 29th. However, laboratory tests proving the presence of the virus were ready last Thursday, March 21st.

In addition to 3,763 confirmed cases, the SES (State Health Department) registered another 11,048 probable cases of the disease. Currently, there is no city in the State that has not reported any cases of dengue. Of the 79 municipalities, 49 cities showed a high incidence of cases, when more than 300 occurrences are recorded per 100 thousand inhabitants.

Another 26 cities are classified as yellow, which means they have a medium incidence of cases. Only Nioaque, Bandeirantes, Bela Vista, Campo Grande, Novo Horizonte do Sul, Terenos, Aquidauana, Coxim, Anaurilândia, Fátima do Sul, Nova Alvorada do Sul and Paranaíba are classified green, when the number of registered cases is below 100 per 100 thousand inhabitants.

In data – The first death was recorded in Maracaju, the victim was a one-month-old baby, with no history of reported health problems. In Chapadão do Sul, an 81-year-old man. In Coronel Sapucaia, a 73-year-old woman. In Dourados, the victim was a 33-year-old man, also with no history of reported illnesses. Finally, a one-year-old baby, who lived in Laguna Carapã, became the fifth victim.
