At just 16 years old, Lamine Yamal is a reality not only in Barcelonaas well as in the main selection of Spain. On the list of those called up to face the Brazilian Teamin a friendly this Tuesday (26), at the Santiago Bernabéu, in Madrid, the striker will meet an old club acquaintance.
In an interview with reporter André Linares, from the channels ESPNthe Brazilian Raphinha praised the Spanish promise, which said “no” to Equatorial Guinea and Morocco to defend the Fury. The two are clubmates at Barça.
“He is a spectacular boy. As a player, I don’t even need to talk. Everyone follows him on the field. But I can add that as a person he is spectacular. He has a good heart. At a young age, he can help older people and be helped. And he helps quite a few players”, began shirt 11.
“The older people help him. I have a great relationship with him, we are close. We get along great even with the competition for position. He has everything to shine in football”, added the Brazilian.
Record breaking
In September 2023, Lamine Yamal broke an important milestone wearing the Spain shirt. In the 7-1 defeat of Georgia, the player, at just 16 years old, became the youngest athlete to debut and score a goal for Fúria, surpassing Gavi, another Barcelona teammate.
There are also brands surpassed by the club. The striker became the youngest to score in LALIGA (16 years and 87 days) and the youngest to debut on Champions League for Barça (16 years and 223 days).
Renewed contract and astronomical fine
Aware of harassment from other clubs, Barça recently renewed the player’s contract until 2026 and imposed a fine of 1 billion euros (R$5.28 billion).
In the current season, Yamal has 39 games with the culé shirt, with six goals and four assists to teammates.
