The National Traffic Secretariat (Senatran) warned drivers in categories C, D and E that failure to carry out a toxicological test is considered a very serious infraction by the Brazilian Traffic Code (CTB), with a penalty of a fine of R$ 1,467.35 and seven points on the National Driving License (CNH).

Senatran also warned that the commission of the infraction due to failure to comply with the established deadline will be verified by the electronic systems of the State Traffic Departments and after the thirtieth day of the exam, the driver may be fined. In Acre, this applies to 7,353 drivers who are irregular.

According to a survey carried out by Senatran on March 20, 2.4 million drivers in categories C, D and E, with valid and expired driver’s licenses, have not yet undergone a toxicological test. In the North Region, there are 158,944 drivers with pending exams. See numbers:

  • Amazonas: 23,947 irregular drivers;
  • Acre: 7,353 irregular drivers;
  • Pará: 63,610 irregular drivers;
  • Roraima: 5,814 irregular drivers;
  • Rondônia: 31,198 irregular drivers;
  • Amapá: 6,405 irregular drivers;
  • Tocantins: 20,617 irregular drivers.

To guide drivers, Senatran has carried out educational campaigns, in addition to issuing alerts through the Digital Traffic Card for drivers to regularize the situation. To check whether the toxicological test is up to date, simply access the driver’s area in the CDT, click on the “toxicological test” button and check if the deadline for carrying it out has passed. If so, look for one of the accredited laboratories and collect it for toxicological testing.

Term

According to the schedule defined by Senatran, the deadline for drivers in categories C, D and E who have not yet undergone a toxicological test, and whose driver’s license expires between January and June, have until March 31st to regularize the situation. Drivers in the same categories whose driver’s license expires between July and December have until April 30 to take the test.

Those with a toxicological test that has been expired by more than 30 days will be fined from May 1st, if the driver’s license expires between January and June, or from May 31st, for drivers with a driver’s license expiring between July and December.
