To participate, interested parties must register (learn how); there will be 2.9 km of route in which participants will collect small residues found on the way
Submissions are now open for the first edition of ‘Plogging: Ecotourism Walk in Cotia’, which will take place on September 25th. registration here
The Prefecture asks for the donation of 1 kg of non-perishable food that will be donated to the Social Fund.
The event is a recent global proposal in which participants complete the route by collecting small residues found along the way.
Plogging is organized by the Secretariat for the Green and the Environment, the Tourism Awareness Week and the Secretariat for Human Rights, Citizenship and Women.
The walk will start at 8:00 am, leaving the Carmel of the Immaculate Heart of Mary and Santa Teresinha. The place of departure was chosen because of the Tourism Week, since Carmelo is part of the religious tourism itinerary of Cotia.
On the 2.9km route, participants will also pass the City Hall and Praça da Matriz.
Plogging brings together in a single event several fronts such as environmental awareness, tourism and walking itself. The collection that will be made by the participants symbolizes the care that everyone must have with the environment and with the generated waste. For the organization, this will be the big message that the event wants to leave.
On the day of the walk, participants should wear comfortable clothes, sneakers, use sunscreen, bring a bottle of water and, if possible, wear a yellow t-shirt in support of the Yellow September Movement (Suicide Prevention Campaign).
After the walk, participants will be invited to return to Carmelo Imaculado Coração de Maria, in transport provided by the City Hall, where they will plant native seedlings in celebration of Spring and will be able to visit the premises.
