Globo hires security guards after William Bonner suffers attacks in RS

The federal deputy Mario Frias (PL-SP) shared a video on social media in which William Bonner is attacked by a resident of Rio Grande do Sul, during coverage of the tragedy caused by rain in cities in the state. In the images, it is possible to hear the boy angry with the presence of the journalist from TV Globo on site.

The episode caused the network to hire security guards for all anchors and reporters involved in the coverage. The channel fears that the demonstrations, in addition to being verbal, could become physical.

“Where is Globo in the water? There are businessmen in Brazil working more than the president himself. Why did Globo only come here to record now? Why wasn’t there anyone in the water before? Why weren’t you with us in this rescue? When it’s time to put it in the media it’s easy, once everything is dry it’s easy to talk about”, he said. A security guard who was escorting William Bonner even tried to prevent the resident from approaching — until then, only Bonner had security guards. “You can do whatever protection you need, brother.
