The Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC), the largest public and free university in Santa Catarina, recovered the number of graduates prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, which changed the dynamics of classes and institutional activities. In 2023, 3,058 students graduated from in-person and distance learning undergraduate courses at UFSC. The number is close to the graduates of 2019, the year before the pandemic: 3,161. Columnist Dagmara Spautz addressed the issue this Monday, April 22, on the NSC Total portal.

According to data from the UFSC 2023 Management Report, in the period in which there were more restrictions, the University managed to deliver 1,812 diplomas in 2020 and 1,516 in 2021. In the following year, the numbers started to improve, with 2,659 graduates in 2022. “The year 2023 served to consolidate the resumption of institutional goals. At the same time, it was one of the most difficult years in the history of our institution, given the budgetary limitations faced not only by UFSC, but by the entire collective of Federal Higher Education Institutions”, stated professor Irineu Manoel de Souza, dean of UFSC, in a message in the Management Report.
