Christina Rocha left SBT due to heartache and lack of support – 05/06/2024 – Television

Christina Rocha’s departure, announced last Thursday (2), was not surprising for anyone who follows behind the scenes at SBT. The presenter had been dissatisfied with the direction of her career at Silvio Santos’ station for some time.

O F5 found that Christina was bothered by the fact that she was not considered to run Chega Mais, an electronic magazine shown in the morning slot. Those chosen to lead the attraction were Regina Volpato, Michelle Barros and Paulo Mathias.

Furthermore, the presenter understood that SBT did not fulfill what it had promised her with her most recent project on the network, Tá na Hora. The program, which she took over together with Marcão do Povo in March, was initially designed to be a variety magazine.

However, the presenter was taken by surprise when she discovered that it would be a popular journalistic show with a police style, along the lines of what she did — very successfully — in the 1990s with Aqui Agora. Christina understood that she was at a different point in her career, and that she had already established herself as a presenter who has great acceptance with the C-class audience, especially women.

The presenter’s big dream, in fact, was the return of the program Casos de Família, which she led on the network’s afternoons between 2009 and 2023. SBT never considered the return of the attraction, understanding that the format was exhausted.

In April, Christina lost someone close to her and was shaken. Troubled by what was happening behind the scenes, with no prospect of new projects, and saddened by private problems, the presenter and SBT began negotiating an amicable exit in April.

In a press release, SBT confirmed the departure by mutual agreement, but without detailing what led to the dismissal. Christina only spoke out through social media, thanking the messages of support she received.
