O job market Brazil has faced a persistent crisis for decades, characterized mainly by the closure of jobs and the reduction of vacancies in several areas.

This reality directly contributes to the devaluation of some professionsreflected in low wages, precarious working conditions and little or no prospect of career growth.

According to data from the General Register of Employed and Unemployed Persons (CAGED), some professions stand out at the top of the list of the most undervalued in the country.

Let’s explore five of them and the reasons that contribute to this situation below.

5 most underrated professions in Brazil

1. Biller

With the advancement of technology and the implementation of electronic payment systems, the demand for bus and train conductors has decreased considerably.

Furthermore, the long working hours and the lack of appreciation for the category contribute to low wages, which means that fewer and fewer people seek this occupation.

2. Basic education teacher

Despite their crucial importance in training new generations, basic education teachers face a series of challenges, including a lack of structure in schools, low pay and lack of social recognition.

This results in a devaluation of the profession and difficulties in attracting and retaining talent.

3. Postman

With the growth of digital communications, the volume of physical correspondence has decreased significantly.

This directly impacts the demand for postmen, who face challenging working conditions and low salaries.

In fact, some experts point out that, in a short time, the role of the postman could disappear altogether or “evolve” into that of the delivery boy, which is on the rise due to the consolidation of e-commerce.

4. Driver

Despite being an essential profession in several sectors, such as transport of passengers and goods, drivers often face long working hours, precarious conditions and low pay, especially in the case of app and bus drivers.

Therefore, there is no longer a high demand for young people interested in entering the career, which makes the profession scarce and undervalued.

5. Store Manager

Despite being responsible for team management and business operations, store managers often face low pay and a lack of recognition for the work they perform.

The competitiveness of the retail market and the pressure for results are other factors that also contribute to the devaluation of the profession.

Escape professional devaluation

Given the sad realities of the aforementioned professions and others, it is important that professionals seek to invest in areas that offer more promising financial returns and appreciation in the job market.

Professions linked to technologyhealth and the financial sector, for example, have demonstrated growth and demand for qualified professionals.

Investing in education and training in these areas can be an effective strategy to avoid devaluation and achieve professional success in the medium to long term.
