50 cent coin is worth more than R$4,000

The 50 cent coin, which stands out for its high market value, has a specific feature that makes it unique and highly valued by collectors: a manufacturing error known as “misplaced die”.

Produced by Casa da Moeda in 2010, this coin is part of a circulation of 170 million units, but only a small number of them have this error.

What differentiates this example from the others is the presence of Tiradentes on the obverse, while the reverse displays the number 50, characteristic of the 50 cent coins.

Typically, Tiradentes is present on five-cent coins, which makes this coin a hybrid or “mule”, as they are called in the world of coin collectors.

This unique combination of elements of different denominations gives the coin a high value. Marketplacevalued at R$4,500 according to the illustrated catalog of ‘Coins with Errors’.
