Reuters – The Minister of Planning, Simone Tebet, said that she is discussing with her team a menu of proposals that includes the decoupling of pensions and social benefits from the minimum wage real earnings policy, also evaluating alternatives for the Education spending floor.
In an interview with the newspaper Valor Econômico published this Monday, Tebet stated that he doubts that the country has the fiscal space to indefinitely extend the policy of increasing the minimum wage above inflation to social security benefits, unemployment insurance, Continuous Payment Benefit (BPC) and salary bonus.

“We will have to do this out of conviction or out of pain,” he told the newspaper, noting that the proposal is to maintain the adjustment of benefits for inflation, a constitutional mandate.
According to Valor, Planning also carries out simulations to incorporate Fundeb (fund for the development of basic education) into the constitutional floor of Education. According to her, the expansion of Union transfers to the fund, approved during the Jair Bolsonaro government, could have an impact of 40 billion reais in three to four years.
