“Ah, but what about the Federal Police investigation that showed that suspended accounts used links to allow redirection to other users of the platform who did not have usage restrictions and, from there, make transmissions?” It is a loophole that was closed after the case became public, according to the company itself, it rushed to explain.

It’s kind of pathetic for Bolsonarism to use the case to “prove” that Musk fulfilled his promise in this way. Because this is not even close to “lifting all restrictions” brought about by court decisions. The accounts remain blocked.

Can he, ultimately, move the X office to Mexico or remove the platform as a whole from Brazil? It could, of course, be the unpredictable Musk. But so far, he hasn’t done that.

More than an exponent of the far right or an inveterate Trumpist, he is an opportunist. He fears that the expansion of platform regulation measures around the world will limit the profitability of his business and the power he has in his hands as owner of X.

You know that the decisions of the Federal Supreme Court and the Superior Electoral Court can inspire actions in other countries, just as initiatives in Europe inspired Brazil. With this, it tries to wall off States to avoid a contagion effect. Not surprisingly, shortly after attacking Brazil, he went to attack the Australian government, which demanded the removal of a video of a hate attack.

It is worth continuing to observe its next steps, including what it will do regarding the Brazilian office. But always giving his actions the size they actually have to prevent them from being seen with the size he wants.
