Neta is a new Chinese electric brand coming to Brazil in 2024

Brazil is the new “Oasis” for women Chinese electric car brands – and there are many there! In total, there are more than 130 different vehicle manufacturers in the country. Because China’s main automakers are coming up with ambitious plans, and one of them is Granddaughter Auto. The brand belongs to the group Hozon, a startup with just 9 years of existence. Because Neta is even younger, it emerged in 2018 as the company’s line of electrified cars.

To become a global brand, Neta Auto has just started operations in Thailand. The plan is to expand vehicle production across Asia and other parts of the world. In China, the company has already produced over 500 thousand cars. In South America, Brazil is the country chosen to lead the region. O Car Newspaper attended the opening of the Beijing Motor Show, in China, this Thursday (25), and spoke with Henrique Sampaio, marketing and product director at Neta Auto do Brasil. There’s even a factory in the plans.

Granddaughter GT arrives in the 2nd semester

Neta’s first cars arrive in Brazil in May, for the launch of the brand in the country and the homologation process. At the same time, the automaker has already started conversations with representatives to form its dealer network. Initially, the first stores will be in the Southeast and Midwest regions, however, according to Sampaio, there are interested parties in the Northeast and other regions. In China, price positioning is the same as BYD It is GWM.

Furthermore, the first launch of the Chinese brand has already been defined: it will be the Granddaughter GTa sports coupe with a look reminiscent of the Chevrolet Corvette. With a claimed drag coefficient of just 0.21 Cx, the GT has supercar numbers. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h, for example, takes 3.7 seconds in the most powerful version, with all-wheel drive. This one has 462 hp, while the rear-wheel drive version has 231 hp and does 0-100 km/h in 6.5 s.

Finally, the two-door, four-seater coupe has ample internal space, with a wheelbase of 2.77 meters distributed over a long 4.71 m in length. And it offers robust autonomy. In the entry-level version, for example, the 64.2 kWh battery guarantees a range of 562 km, while the AWD model, with a 74.4 kWh battery, reaches 580 km in the Chinese CLTC cycle. Inside, the highlight is the large 17.6-inch central multimedia screen.

Song Plus rival, Neta L arrives in 2025

Like BYD and GWM, Neta Auto will also start its operation with a more expensive car. However, the Chinese company will soon come with other more affordable and electrified products. The new brand has four models currently available on the Chinese market: Neta GT, Neta S, Neta U and Neta V. But it will soon have a wider line with electric and hybrid vehicles.

Because the bet for 2025 will be the Granddaughter La new SUV with the size of Toyota Corolla Cross and technology similar to Nissan e-Power system. The car is driven by an electric motor installed on the rear axle and has a gasoline engine at the front, which works as a generator to power the main engine battery. In this way, it promises very low consumption and easy refueling, as there is no need to recharge at sockets.

Granddaughter Aya also arrives in 2024

Neta Auto also plans to launch the compact Aya in Brazil. The model, in fact, will arrive here in 2024, at the end of the year, to compete among entry electric cars. The focus will be on BYD Dolphin Mini and other models currently priced around R$120,000, such as the JAC e-JS1. The Chinese newcomer’s car is 4.07 meters long, 1.69 m wide, 1.54 m high, has a wheelbase of 2.42 m and has room for five passengers.

In the entry-level version, the Neta Aya has a modest engine capable of generating the equivalent of 54 hp of power (40 kW) and 11.2 mkgf of maximum torque (110 Nm). The most powerful configuration has 95 hp (70 kW) and approximately 15.3 mkgf of maximum torque (150 Nm). Ranges are 318 km or up to 401 km on a full charge in the Chinese cycle.

Inside, the electric hatch is reminiscent of BYD models and has a 14.6-inch central screen. In China, the top-of-the-line version of Neta Aya costs 88,800 yuan, the equivalent of R$63,300 in direct conversion and without fees.
