This weekend, an anticyclone is expected to arrive in the Southeast, Central-West and South regions of Brazil, bringing an increase in temperatures. The National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) warns of the possibility of a new heat wave, with an increase of up to 5ºC in relation to the monthly average. However, Santa Catarina will not be affected. Anticyclones are characterized by descending and dry air masses, preventing the formation of cold fronts and keeping the climate hot and dry.

According to Inmet meteorologist, Andrea Ramos, the presence of the anticyclone creates an atmospheric barrier that hinders the formation of clouds and contributes to the increase in temperatures. This weather pattern is already generating low humidity alerts in states such as São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Goiás and Mato Grosso do Sul.

In some areas of these states, temperatures above 30ºC are expected, with warnings of potential danger for low air humidity, varying between 30% and 20%.

As for Santa Catarina, Epagri/Ciram predicts that the state will not be affected by the anticyclone. Despite the high temperatures, the weather will become rainy from Sunday onwards, with the approach of a cold front coming from Rio Grande do Sul.

On Saturday, the weather will be firm, with highs above 30°C in almost all regions. From Sunday onwards, temperatures will remain high, but with instability, mainly in the southern half of the state, where storms, gusts of wind and possible hail are expected.
